Communicare is a community mental health center in North Central Mississippi that serves Calhoun, Lafayette, Marshall, Panola, Tate and Yalobusha counties. Communicare is currently seeking a Director of Finance and Accounting.
The Director of Finance and Accounting is responsible for managing the activities of the overall general accounting function within a non-profit mental health center. This position will oversee, implement and maintain accounting systems, procedures and policies and ensure the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data. The Director of Finance and Accounting will act as liaison between the company, government, client and CPA auditors in providing the required information and ensuring that proper information is maintained.

Responsibilities:
- Supervise and audit the work of the accounting and administrative staff to include medical records, third-party billing, and facility maintenance
- Implementing and/or maintaining generally accepted accounting systems
- Monitoring and analyzing financial reports and journal entries, maintaining and reconciling ledger accounts on a monthly basis
- Monitoring and reviewing all record of assets, accounts receivable, accounts payable, liabilities, and other financial transactions
- Responsibility for all basic accounting procedures; financial statement preparation, month end closing; journal entries and general ledger maintenance, inventory roll forwards, fixed assets and margin analysis; supporting schedules for financial statements preparation
- Reviewing, analyzing, and reconciling general ledger accounts and investment transactions in conjunction with preparing quarterly reports for management
- Performing analysis of operations on a monthly basis to include production of accurate and timely billing along with accurate reporting
- Authorized purchase of routine supplies, goods and services; monitor and assist in following proper guidelines and procedures in the purchase of commodities
- Produced monthly by program financial reports as directed by the Department of Mental Health
- Answer and submit all garnishment to the appropriate agency
- Assist in the production of the annual cost accounting report
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
- File all Federal, State, and other financial returns/reports
- Assist in developing the annual budget
- Monitor cash reserve and investments
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business related field preferred
- 5 – 10 years progressive accounting experience in accounting within a nonprofit/medical environment
- CPA or MBA a plus
- Strong leadership and proven supervisory skills
- Exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities
- Strong organization, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong computer aptitude, including expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word as well as experience with Accounting software
- Experience with ABC general ledgers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
MBA.
