Communicare is a community mental health center in North Central Mississippi that serves Calhoun, Lafayette, Marshall, Panola, Tate and Yalobusha counties. Communicare offers specialized treatment services for adults with serious mental illness, children with serious emotional disturbances, individuals with substance abuse disorders and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Communicare is currently seeking an IOP Therapist

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Provide outpatient and/or intensive outpatient group therapy for adolescents and young adults ages. 
  • Assess home/family situations as it relates to the clients’ needs and work directly with the Family Program Coordinator to ensure that the family is participatory in treatment 
  • Provide individual therapy to clients in the Youth and Family TREE program. 
  • Conduct conferences with the referral sources when necessary to include the school, court system, family, etc. 
  • Deliver evidenced based services while maintaining fidelity utilizing direction from the Co-occurring Trainer, the County Office Manager, the Youth and Family TREE Program Manager, and the Director of Substance Abuse Services 
  • Attend court with client, as needed and/or requested 
  • Arrange for medication evaluation and management, when necessary and/or recommended 
  • When necessary, drive a van route to bring clients to and from treatment 
  • Work closely with other programs in Communicare to maintain continuity of care and    to ensure that there is a coordinated system of care 
  • Participate in staffing and trainings as required 
  • Establish and/or maintain a positive relationship with the schools and colleges that are in the area 
  • Establish and/or maintain referral bases 
  • Maintain up to date and accurate medical records on assigned clients 
  • Complete all training requirements as set forth by Communicare 
  • Any other duties assigned 


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s Degree in social work, counseling, or other related social service and/or counseling field with the ability to at least obtain a CMHT from the Mississippi Department of Mental Health 
  • Pass a Communicare background check and drug screen.  Communicare is a drug-free workplace.
  • Experience working with children and/or substance abuse is preferred, but not required. 
  • Ability to perform the responsibilities of the position as described above.
  • Ability to work independently and accept supervision.             
  • Ability to relate positively to other staff members, members of the community, and staff from other agencies.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout the catchment area and to trainings and meetings in other locations outside the catchment area as needed.  A current valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and an insurable driving record must be maintained throughout employment.
